Hypnosis is a very powerful and effective way to induce change in people and there's been a giant growth of the number of hypnotists in recent years. However, when it comes to persuasion, ordinary hypnosis inductions become almost useless because the people one is trying to "hypnotically influence" didn't give any permission to do that.

"Covert hypnosis is the utilization of techniques and strategies to induce change in a person in a subtle and completely unconscious way", says Kevin Hogan Psy.D., a University professor of influence and persuasion, a professional speaker, trainer and therapist.

From this definition it is clear that the "subject" isn't aware of the persuasion (= change) taking place. This is the key difference between covert hypnosis and 'ordinary' therapeutic hypnosis and thus the methods also vary quite a lot. Sometimes, however, the techniques are very similar as covert hypnosis 'took' many (more subtle) methods out of the hypnotherapy practice.

Hypnosis literally means "sleep" and is not a very good description of either of the models. Early hypnotists though that a subject, when hypnotized and entering a trance, fell a sleep. They also used the word "Sleep!" to induce trance a lot, and some (stage) hypnotists, because it's been engraved into our minds so deeply, use it to this day.

A hypnotic trance is a unique state of mind where the subject is more suggestible and both hypnosis and covert hypnosis attempt to induce such a state in a person.

In a regular hypnosis setting, a subject is placed in a controlled environment (a safe room with little distraction...), is aware of what's about to go on and allows the hypnotist to lead them into a trance and give them positive suggestions.

Covert hypnosis works quite differently. A person is brought into a trance state during what seems a normal, everyday conversation and is, through various techniques, suggested what the covert hypnotist desires. The subject typically acts on the suggestions and because it's very hard to detect covert hypnosis, he or she is certain that the whole thing was their own idea. This can be used to change a thought pattern, to stimulate emotional responses, to implant ideas and false memories, to change behaviour etc.

The person being persuaded with covert hypnosis is usually wide awake. Suggestions are slid "below the radar" so that little or no critical thought goes to them. They are thus readily accepted by the subconscious mind and acted upon.

The aim of the persuader using covert hypnosis is to capture and lead the subject's imagination, thus reducing the action of the critical mind, focus them on a specific outcome and through suggestion make it a new, firm reality for the subject. The firmer belief about the outcome the subject already has, the harder it is to change it (e.g. if a person passionately supports one political party, it's very hard to get them to support the other), but the multitude of techniques and strategies almost assure a successful change (it's all in the persuader and his willingness to persist and utilize different strategies).

Covert hypnosis has unlimited uses, but most commonly it's used in sales, relationships and therapy. It gives a tremendous advantage to the person that's skilled in it.

Repetition of such suggestions, especially if listened to regularly on a taped message, can boost your determination and enhance your conscious “willpower.”

    Often, however, such messages alone are not enough. It takes a combination of behavioral modification (watching your diet, learning how to eat healthily, exercising regularly) and psychological education (understanding why you have certain eating patterns and how to change them) in order to achieve permanent weight loss. A good hypnotherapist will address both these issues as well. Not only should you receive mental suggestions for behavioral and lifestyle changes, your hypnotherapist should explore with you any emotional connections to food and eating habits. Once you realize why you are eating when you are not hungry (and if we all ate only when we were hungry there would be no need for any weight loss programs) you can begin to change that behavior.

    A good hypnotherapist will work with positive programming, using your own success to spur you on and not rely on “aversion therapy” or “negative conditioning” to achieve results. Suggestions that stress positive changes (looking the way you want to look, feeling the way you want to feel) and that increase self-esteem can help you succeed not only in your weight loss, but in other areas of your life as well.

    Mental imagery is another important part of hypnosis. Using hypnosis for weight loss, after achieving a deep state of relaxation your hypnotherapist might lead you through an imaginary journey where you might imagine yourself wearing a dress or suit you’ve grown out of. You might imagine the positive comments of your friends or co-workers. You would be encouraged to use all five senses in your imagery, seeing and feeling yourself grow thinner, stronger, more healthy and vital. Studies show that the more real your inner experience, the more likely the final results will match your mental “program.”

    When used as a part of an overall program of behavioral modification and attitude adjustment, hypnosis can be the extra dimension that your weight loss program needs for long term success. While not magic, hypnosis can provide powerful tools to help you fight the battle of the bulge, tools that just may make the difference between success and failure.

    Hypnosis has a long and mystical history. The simple truth of it is that hypnosis is a natural process of influence and suggestibility and all hypnosis is self hypnosis. Don't believe it?

    Just think about it for a moment and consider the last time a friend asked if you were hungry and although you weren't thinking about it at the time, you shortly found yourself nearly ravenous for food. Or how about a time when someone you like mentioned that they liked what you were wearing and now you find yourself wearing that thing more often when you know you'll see them or you may even purchase more things similar to it. Perhaps there was a time when a commercial on television or radio seemed so appealing that you ended up ordering, buying or going to wherever was suggested because of the deal or appeal of the product. You may have memories of someone in your past who told you, you can't do something, shouldn't do something or mustn't be something and here you are today either opposing what they said to show them who is boss or you aren't, haven't and can't move forward in your life due to their past treatment of you. You're getting the idea now, although I could go on and on.

    So no matter who you are, you are capable of being influenced, that is how you have become who you are, so be okay with what 'was' because as long as your past has gotten you where you want to be in life then there is no need to complain or change, right? HOWEVER, if you're not happy with the influences of the past and the results you have in the present, then hypnosis (self-hypnosis) is the cause and only hypnosis (self-hypnosis) will change it. The point here is to understand this information in order to allow yourself to only be suggestible to things that will provide you with the benefits and results that will make you feel good about you and the world around you. Every thought or feeling you dwell on today will become what you face at some point in the future, so be aware of your self-hypnosis which is a clinical term for self-talk or inner dialog. Pay attention to what you say about yourself and to yourself and to other people because you may be influencing yourself and others to experience less than positive results or conditions of limitation and who wants to do that on purpose, right?

    Now if you've become conscious that a fear or phobia or condition of some kind has stopped you from being the best you can be, then it's perhaps time for you to seek the help of a professional who will guide you through the process of letting go of negative or limiting influences of the past. This is when hypnosis will work for you rather quickly and you will be conscious of the positive difference. But suppose you believe that hypnosis works on some people and not on you and you still seek the guidance of a professional to help you rid yourself of the negative or limiting behavior that has stopped you from achieving your goals, then, hypnosis may not work for you quickly because your conscious mind still wants to be conscious of the negative difference. Hypnosis is already taking affect on you in the latter case, because you're following suggestions of what can't work instead of what can, and who is in control of that?

    Your mind always has and always will belong to you and you alone. Nobody goes in and starts pulling your strings, pushing your buttons as if you operate by remote control. You could either bark like a dog if asked or you won't. You are actually the only one in control of how you react to or feel about anything in your life, with unlimited choices. Clinical hypnosis is a powerful tool to enhance your true sense of mind mastery by helping shift your awareness to what unlimited results you want and the conscious mental focus that comes when you take time to go inside yourself to find the unlimited answers that will resolve and uncover the mystery and power within you. Doesn't that feel promising?

    The role of a professional hypnotist or hypnotherapist is to guide you with techniques that will stimulate your subconscious mind to be forthcoming in solutions and answers. Your role is to be open and receptive to letting the techniques work and prove to you how your conscious mind and subconscious mind (your inner genius) is always working in congruency or balance. Since the suggestions given in a clinical setting are based upon the success and results that you desire, you can allow yourself to relax physically although hypnosis does not have to be relaxing to be effective. As we know in life, we are influenced by suggestions that come in outside of our conscious awareness, especially in times of distraction or stress, this is how we get into the situations we find ourselves in anyway, remember? You have the solution, you may not have known that you had it until there was a problem (bad feelings or results), but now you can fix it and isn't that what you want?

    So, whatever we are thinking, doing and being, we are in alignment with the results good or bad. We must allow the information of what could be our preferred result to come to the surface and once the awareness is there, professional hypnosis or self-hypnosis can purposely change the alignment by changing our thinking, doing and being, that's how we succeed with hypnosis. It's all hypnosis and all hypnosis is self-hypnosis which is in your control, so it can work for you. You can do it alone or with the guidance of a professional but whatever you do, the information of what you want has to be clearly understood by you and then your natural inspiration and motivation will show you the way to your results. And, who knows better than you what you understand, right?

    Hypnotize Yourself For Anaesthesia - Your 10 Step Guide to Create Your Own Anaesthesia Today

    There was a superb television delight on here in the UK entitled 'Hypno-Surgery' recently and it showed a man receiving hypno-surgery. That is, he had a hernia operation without any anaesthesia other than by using hypnosis.

    Of course, it is a sensation because it is on television, however, these have been done for years. There are lots of filmed studies and masses of research that has been done using hypnosis alone when performing surgery.

    Many ways have been used to alleviate pain over the years and I have experienced many myself and found hypnosis accompanied with a range of mind skills and tools to be by far the best way of overcoming and altering my response to it.

    Can you remember a time when you had a paper cut and you did not realise that you had it until later on that day when you saw it with your own eyes? It was not until you saw it that it hurt and thought “oooh that smarts a bit.” This is naturally occurring anaesthesia, the capacity which exists within us all.

    One of the most basic methods for using your mind to create anaesthesia is called the glove anaesthesia method and today I want to share it with you for you to use as and when you like.

    Important point here : You must only use this pain-control technique when you know the cause of any pain. Please also consult a doctor if the condition persists. Otherwise, use this technique for fun and to remind you of how amazing you and your brain really are.

    Step One: Find a comfortable place where you will not be disturbed. Close your eyes. Get yourself relaxed.Focus on your breathing, let it be steady, deep and slow. Imagine relaxing all the muscles in your body one by one and really do take the time required to establish a nice relaxed physical state.

    Use your imagination to imagine a favourite place, somewhere you feel safe and relaxed. Imagine that you can hear the sounds of that place, see the sights, feel the feelings that you would feel in that place. Use your conscious mind's awareness and focus on each of the muscles in your body and think the word "soften" into each of your muscles. Imagine them melting, softening and allow your mind to be peaceful.

    Take a good few minutes to do this; indulge yourself.

    Step Two: Develop a strong sense of purpose right now. Using your internal dialogue, remind yourself and tell yourself that you have the power and ability to be in control of any sensations in your body and mind. Because you really do. Tell yourself that You accept that you are in control of your own mind. Focus on and imagine the unlimited power of your mind, tell yourself that you can send numbing sensations into any part of your body. Develop a sense of belief in yourself and in the power of your own mind. Really encourage and empower yourself.

    Imagine that these words of personal power and belief that you say to yourself are being delivered to the deepest depths of your mind. Imagine that they've been accepted on every level of your body and mind.

    At this stage, also tell yourself that the word "anaesthesia" is your key trigger word for a conditioned response later on.

    Step three: Now we begin to invoke the glove anaesthesia. Begin by concentrating upon your dominant hand, really focus on it to the exclusion of all else. Notice the tiniest of sensations within it. Begin to imagine that using your attention, your dominant hand is free of all feeling. This needs some time and concentration.

    Maybe you can use your imagination to imagine that your hand is encased in ice. Truly imagine those feelings.

    Separate your hand, in your mind, from the rest of your physical body. Think of it as detached from your physical being. Continue to focus your attention upon your hand and allow it to lose all feeling.

    Using your internal dialogue again, tell yourself that your hand is becoming numb. No feeling at all. Inside your mind instruct your hand to go to sleep. Tell it to go to sleep. Be aware of all the unusual sensations that are in your hand as you focus upon it and keep all your focus and concentration upon it.

    Tell yourself that every breath you take seems to cause your hand to become number, and number, until you just can't feel your hand at all. You just can't feel your hand at all because it is numb. No feeling. Numb. Tell yourself that with authority and belief.

    Step Five: Now, you're going to transfer this lack of feeling to the part of your body that you desire to feel numb and have the anaesthesia in. So when you are sure that you have created the correct level of numbness in your hand you're going to raise your hand and place it upon the part of your body you want to feel numb.

    When you do this, you'll transfer this numbness to that part of your body. So then go ahead and raise your hand and touch the part of your body you want to become cool and numb. Maybe imagine the numbness as a colour that you are spreading into that area. Maybe imagine that part of your body being filled with that colour and creating that numbness. Imagine all the sensations of numbness are being transferred into that part of your body. Release the numbness into that other part of your body.

    Then spend some moments doing that properly and thoroughly now. As you do it, give yourself a time limit that this is going to last for. Naturally, you do not want that part of you to be numb forever. So make sure that you set yourself a time limit when your self-induced anaesthesia will end.

    Step Six: Now that you have transferred the calming, soothing, numbing coolness, and you're physically feeling better and better in that area. Really enjoy the sensations and marvel at your own amazing self. Imagine coolness permeates the area. Imagine you experience wonderful relief in that area. Breathe deeply and relax completely.

    Maybe even repeat a little mantra of support to your self at this point: "Calm, cool, soothing, numbing sensations permeates the area. Better and better. Numbness. Relief. Numbness.” Use words that appeal to you the most.

    Step Seven: When you have maintained the state and are sure that you feel really good. Say the word "anaesthesia" to yourself, so that each time you use this word in future occasions, when you have the right intention and conditions to do this again, saying the word will bring the resources of this session to make next time even better. Breathe deeply, embrace the sensations in your body and mind and repeat the word to yourself. Trust that each time you choose to use it in the future, it has a wonderful effect of enhancing and amplifying your control over your anaesthesia.

    Step Eight: And it's time to focus the incredible power of your imagination by imagining yourself doing this even better next time. Imagine that you feel more and more in control of your own mind each time you do this. Experience the joy in this realisation. Create every detail of this future occasion in your mind, including your reaction and the reactions of others. And in so doing you communicate your desire to the levels of mind that will assist you in manifesting this natural anaesthesia better and better each time you do it. Each time you use that word when practising your anaesthesia, tell yourself it works more and more profoundly and powerfully.

    Imagine yourself really feeling good about this and what you can do with the power of your own mind.

    Spend a few moments quietly doing this.

    Step Nine: When you have fully absorbed all you can from this wonderful experience, open your eyes and remember all that has been communicated.

    Step Ten: Practice, practice, practice. The more you practice, the better and more thorough it is.

    You may want to practice doing this on your arm. Prior to doing it, pinch your arm until it hurts to gauge what your pain tolerance level is in that arm. Then when you have it anaesthetised, test how different the sensations are.

    Exactly how do you create an advertisement that stops a potential customer right in their tracks? One that gets them locked in a hypnotic trance from the moment they lay eyes on your ad until they grab the phone and feverishly dial in your number?

    OK, ...Lets suppose for a minute that you are a behind the steering wheel of your car driving toward your home right now. Its been a very long day at work and you have had one or two (or three) of your normal challenges with the people who can make your day a hassle.

    You have been doing your job for years now but there are just some people who seem to set you back every time you have contact with them. So, your pretty frustrated today.

    The sun is low near the horizon and ends up shining right in your face as you drive. But up ahead you can see that a school is letting out. Off to the right of the car, on the sidewalk, there is a kid yelling at another kid and teasing him about something.

    One time, I was just getting out of grade school and this bully was taunting me. I was wearing a bright orange fluorescent crossing guard belt and this kid was giving me grief about how stupid I looked wearing it. I remember his face and the cruel way he was making fun of something I was somewhat proud of.

    Oh.......by the way......a car has come to a DEAD stop right in front of you.

    Did you hit it?

    Or do you think you might have hit it? And what would you say to the nice police man? You might say you were distracted....but really, you were off on another planet.

    So, what is the exact method for a captivating headline and directory ad? Let me pause for a moment, and cover a bit of background first.

    Hypnotic trances aren't what many people think they are. Most feel they are a power or force that is imposed on a person that will cause them to do things they would never do otherwise. That's not an accurate way to look at what happens.

    Its more that a person allows themselves to become involved in a train of thought that ends up capturing their complete attention. In this state, they will do things they would choose to do anyway. The only difference being that they are so captivated by a particular train of thought that they become unaware of their surroundings or that there is anybody else watching.

    The result is behavior you'd not expect. People in a hypnotic state are open to outside input without many of the barriers we might normally use during the day to keep our defenses up.

    Chances are good that you are reading this. ( That was a no-brainer statement.) One of the reasons you kept reading was that I proposed an intriguing idea - that I would lay down a clear and easy formula for getting the attention of a customer.

    An unanswered question or statement is a big part of the hypnotic formula. Once the curosity is aroused then a person will stay glued until the mind has satisfied the missing element.

    Another part of the formula is a story that people can relate to. The story should have specific details to guide the reader but the details should be universally familiar. Very specific, as if the event was taking place, but general enough that most everyone can relate to the details.

    Can this be boiled down to a Yellow Page Ad? Yes. "The Story" in your ad might be "That old dusty water heater that needs replacing fast." Or maybe "Your life has been shattered by a Drunken Driver and you need legal help." Those are hypnotic statements to the potential customer. They tell a quick story that includes emotional elements that draw the desired reader to the first line of text.

    The opposite of those two statements would be "We sell De-Grande Brand Water heaters for less." and "We legally represent you. Since 1814." These kind of "Ego" statements often represent the mind of the seller, but NOT the state of mind of the buyer.

    The business owner might look at those statements and really relate to what it says. The customer will sail right past those ads because they have an entirely different thought train at that moment.

    Writing a Hypnotic Yellow Page ad takes time and thought. By now your beginning to see that putting together together a winning and powerful yellow page ad takes a number of skills that go well beyond a thorough study of the Graphic Arts.

    Many individuals these days, male or female, young or old, are struggling with weight management. Concerns with rising cases obesity are no longer based upon a Hollywood conception of what is the appropriate body size. Instead of doctors wanting their patients to be "thinner", they want them to be healthier. The patients, however, are not necessarily discerning the difference.

    What Has This Lead To?

    Both women and men alike are becoming hooked on yo-yo diets. What is a yo-yo diet? Yo-yo dieting describes the process of going on a diet, losing a few pounds and then going off the diet. When the pounds come back, the dieter then begins another diet and the process continues. Repetitive weight loss and gain is hard on the body, especially the heart and of course, it is hard on the emotional state of the dieter as well.

    In addition to this, many dieters are using unhealthy methods of losing weight. Many take dieting pills which are often just glorified caffeine pills claiming to be the miracle cure for obesity. Then, there are those who dive into the "fad diets". Whether it is the cabbage or grapefruit diets, many of these do not give individuals the nutrition they need to live healthily. In addition, low carb diets such as Atkins often create abnormally high levels of protein in the body for the liver to digest. After all, man cannot live on meat and cheese alone.

    What To Do?

    Sometimes, good old diet and exercise is just not enough. Maybe it’s the genes. Maybe it is behavioral choices that we make everyday without realizing how they are undermining our health. So how do we change these behaviors? One method is through weight loss motivation hypnosis. You may have visions of a creepy soul dangling a pocket watch in front of your face and your eyes beginning to spin. However, this is not what hypnosis is.

    The goal of hypnosis is to access the subconscious mind. Under normal circumstances, you control your conscious level of thought while your subconscious takes care of the automatic stuff, like tying your shoes or starting the dishwasher, things that do not require conscious thought. Still, your subconscious is like the driving force that works with our conscious brain to control our actions. Sleeping is the time when consciousness is put on the back burner and the subconscious mind can take control.

    Hypnotism works on relaxing the conscious level of the mind. Although your conscious mind is subdued and the subconscious mind is allowed the front seat, you are still knowledgeable about what is going on. You and your hypnotist will work to "reprogram" the subconscious side of you. If chocolate, for example, is your weakness, your hypnotist may associate chocolate with nausea so that thinking of chocolate makes you feel nauseous.

    The best way to embark on your career as a self hypnotist is to first have yourself hypnotized and given the post hypnotic suggestion that you will be able to achieve the hypnotic state in the future, whenever you choose to, by the simple process of counting to three, or by any other means, signal, or a phrase that has been suggested to you by the hypnotist during the hypnotic state.

    You really need only be hypnotized once to make this conditioning permanent, and it is not at all necessary to seek out a professional hypnotist to do this for you, since anyone, who is acquainted with the technique of hypnosis, can prepare the way for you. It can also be done by yourself, if you are sufficiently skilled in the several techniques of self hypnosis.

    One of the most successful means of acquiring self hypnosis skills is through the medium of recordings. Those who cannot avail themselves of a professional hypnotist will find the recordings extremely useful for this purpose. It is not at all necessary that these records be made by a professional or purchased, since you can easily make them yourself.

    Personally, I usually incorporate a musical background which soothes and reassures the listener as it invokes the hypnotic state. Some subjects require only one hearing of the recording, while others need a repeated exposure to it. To improve the effect you can also use the sound of the metronome in the background, rather than music. This can represent a rewarding innovation facilitating the induction of hypnosis. This idea is based on the conditioned reflex theory.

    As the subject listens to the record, he is instructed to pay close attention to every beat of the metronome, and to mentally repeat the word sleep to himself whenever he hears it rhythmic beat. While this goes on, suggestions are also relayed to him that he will be able to hypnotize himself at the count of three.

    I have known subjects who achieved self hypnosis with the latter recording, but had failed with the former one. I have also witnessed instances, however, in which the metronome record failed to gain any effect whatsoever, while the musical hypnotic record was a huge success. People are different. It is, therefore, difficult to tell which record will work. it is best to have them both on hand, in case of emergency, so that all contingencies will be provided for.

    Getting published is not the easiest feat, and it helps to wiggle your fingers, empower your words and send an editor into a literary trance. Not easy, but doable. Continue reading to learn how…

    1. Woo with originality: There’s nothing new under the sun—or so the old saying goes. But, there’s always a fresh slant to a worn topic. Find ways of tapping into your “otherness” and pouring that into your writing. “Girl meets boy” was the underlying subject of author Jessica Brody’s short story “Hu-Man Resources,” but the subject did not stop there. Imagine a group of men-deprived girls plotting a scheme to use their positions in personnel as a dating service. Now that’s a story! And a hilarious one at that.

    2. Seduce with your opening: There’s nothing wrong with a tease. Captain Ahab was neither my first husband nor my last—the opening sentence of the best-selling novel Ahab’s Wife by Sena Jeter Naslund—bewitches readers. Hummm…we all know the memorable character of Moby Dick and wonder what shenanigans lies within his home front. And the bit about multiple husbands before and after Ahab entices…

    3. Befriend the spell/grammar check: Nothing is a larger turn-off than seeing a writer’s work riddled with errors. Remember, an editor’s interview with a writer isn’t with the writer herself but with her writing. Make sure you flaunt quality writing. One of my favorite resources for a spell check/thesaurus is dictionary.com. General use is free, but you can also upgrade to premium service which provides ad-free use, audio word pronunciations, word games, and more.

    4. Incite gossip: Ms. Missy next door may give you something to talk about, but you want to prattle on about your work. The internet is a great resource for getting talk and feedback about your writing. Don’t under estimate internet “gossip”!!! Author Karen P. Fowler knows the power of internet gossip well. In her article, “Workshopping Your Fiction,” (http://writingfiction.suite101.com/article.cfm/workshopping_your_fiction) she describes her experience in using peer review websites. Another great thing about internet gossip, is that word spreads fast. If your work is good, gabby mouths flap. Let them!

    5. Read great works: The literary canon is great for example and inspiration, but don’t forget other great works (and the ones that’ll help you get published) such as writer’s guidelines and works published already with the editor. If writer’s want to know what I like to see, I say please read a few of the work we’ve already published. I get tons of submissions where it’s obvious that the writer didn’t bother doing her homework. It is worth the time and effort to read a publication’s submissions policy and frequently asked questions (FAQs). Nothing creates a worse impression than when a writer asks a question that has already been answered in the guidelines or FAQs. Do diligence, as with job interviews, is just as important when you want to sell your work.

    6. Flattery…will get you everywhere: Delivering roses isn’t necessary, but a kind (and sincere) word about the publication would not hurt. Caroline See in her book, Making a Literary Life talks about “charming notes” to editors, as a means to getting “face time” (a book, by the way which is a must read for writers). Editors receive hundreds of submissions from virtual strangers wanting to be featured in their publication. A nice note to the editor could help in the long run and perhaps establish a rapport. You’d be a familiar name in a sea of submissions.

    Hypnotize Yourself Into The Ghost of Christmas Future

    You will begin to realise why this exercise is called the Dickens Pattern (with reference to the ghost showing Scrooge some different futures) as you notice that the idea of this exercise is to hypnotize yourself to be aware of two very real possibilities for your future. Two distinct pathways that you could take for your life this very day.

    Have a think about something that you do that you are maybe not motivated to change about yourself. Prior to running through this technique, just have a think about something that you know you need to be doing, but are not. Then with that thing in mind, follow these simple steps.

    Step One: Get yourself nice and relaxed and settled. Concentrate on your breathing, engage in the moment and spend some time being still, quiet and drift inside of your own mind. Hypnotize yourself here.

    Step two: Use your imagination to imagine walking down the path of your life.

    Ok, I know that some of you just cried out "but I can't visualise!" First up, if you believe you can't then of course you can't. Second up, just imagine these things. They do not have to be in cinema screen perfect detail. You can remember what colour what your front door is, right? You can remember what your childhood bedroom is like, right? That is your imagination doing that. You know the sound that your feet make when you walk across gravel don't you? You can imagine it, but you are not hearing it in your ears, are you? Just imagine these things as best as you can. Failing that, pretend that you are imagining them and that will do the trick.

    So, as you imagine walking along the path of your life, notice that every step forwards is a minute, an hour or a day into your future. If you look back, you will notice that your past is there; everything you have ever done or experienced is behind you.

    Become aware of the temperature, the sights, the sounds and enjoy walking along the path of your life. Make it sensory rich and get comfortable with the idea. Imagine the feeling of your feet walking along the path and the sound they make. Engage with the idea of really being there.

    Step Three: Imagine that a few more steps ahead there is a place where the path splits, where is goes off to the left and off to the right. Pause here for a few moments and have a think. Here, there are two different pathways, two possibilities, two ways that you could choose to go.

    If you were to choose the path to the left, life is pretty much the same as it is. You carry on doing the same things, living the same way and dealing with this thing in the same way as you have been doing.

    If you were choose the path to the right, the right path, there are new possibilities, achievement, freedom of mind, positive and progressive implications. Think about that as you stand at this place where the path splits. You want to make a decision and commit to one of these paths. Before you make that decision, we are going to see what each path holds for your future.

    Step Four: Step out on to the path to your left. Where there is no change. Briefly imagine that you are not going to live and discover your unfulfilled dreams. Instead, you continue doing what you have in the past. What will life be like in 10 years time?

    Step out, every step you take you get older, days pass, weeks pass. Notice how your body is, how your mind is, how you feel about staying on this path. Walk out into your future to the 10 year point. Walk out 10 years into your future and feel how it feels to carry on doing the same thing.

    This path is just like today, with one difference: you have 10 fewer years remaining in your life. I want you to think about how you will feel in 10 years if you continue doing the exact same things you have done to date. What will your daily life be like?

    Really experience that. See what you see, hear what you hear, feel the feelings. Disappointment? Anger? Frustration? Failure? How does that feel? How do you affect those around you? How do they feel? Absorb every aspect of this path that you can take today if you so choose. Notice everything that you need to know about what it will be like if you carry on with the same behaviour, putting off change.

    Drift back to where the path splits.

    Step Five: Now take a step out on to the path to the right. This is where you create powerful, progressive change. Notice the sense of freedom in your thoughts, the sense of accomplishment and walk out 10 years into your future.

    Imagine you are 10 years into the future but this time it’s different. Why? Because starting today you actually begin making changes in your life. Specific intentional changes are not easy. They are intentional because these changes are changes that you are choosing and they are the changes that will cause you to live the life you want to live and dream. They often mean leaving the perception of security in order to discover your personal freedom. These are the changes that will bring happiness and satisfaction into your life.

    Just go there now. 10 years out… having made a decade of changes. Imagine living the life you want to live.

    How does that feel inside? Do you feel that you have lived life? See the people of your life and how they feel about you and how they react to you. This is the path of a different choice, a different decision. You have the freedom to be how you want to be.

    Absorb all you need from this moment in your future and the positive things that you can learn consciously and unconsciously and then drift and float back to the place where the path splits.

    Step Six: Now that you know and have experienced the two contrasting futures. Now that you know what your future holds as a result of what you do this very day, you can make a decision. You can compare and contrast those two futures that can be yours based on a decision that you make about how you are going to live your life.

    Imagine reaching deep inside you for all the strength and wisdom that you need to make this decision today. As you do so, imagine that when you choose to make that decision that deep inside your mind you are switching off the alternative path, you are switching off the opportunity to drift back to that place.

    Then step out and take your future path.

    Absorb yourself in the sensations, the feelings, the sights, the sounds and of course continue to engage in your future the way I have discussed in previous articles on this blog.

    Step Seven: Open your eyes and begin to plan your future and take action to achieve that outcome. Your unconscious mind now knows what it is working towards.

    What is the exact sequence of events that will take you to where you want to be? Have a think consciously of what you need to do. Every outcome begins with the first step. When you decide you want to have a romantic meal for two, there are many steps that you need to perform in order for that to happen. (Check the fridge, do you have what you want to serve up? No? Find keys, open garage door, drive car to the supermarket etc. etc.) You need to determine the exact sequence of events and write it down.

    Begin with the outcome in mind. Write without stopping. 10 years from now, I plan to be living in a… at…. With…. Get really detailed about it. Why? Because you are hooking up the neural connections in your brain. You must improve upon, clarify and make clear just exactly who and what you are going to be doing, experiencing, living and having in 10 years. This is the first step of the process!

    Key: Notice how you felt excited and optimistic when you did this? The reason is simple. It’s the life you are designing instead of the one that was given you and that you have lived with less intention and purpose to date.

    This is the beginning of creating the life that you want to live. Know what the future holds for you as a result of the choice you can make today.

    How to Hypnotize People - A Simple System for Beginners

    In this guide I will teach you how to guide someone into hypnosis. The first important rule is that you can only guide someone into hypnosis, you can never guide someone if he is not willing to be hypnotized . All you have to do is follow these simple steps:

    1. The subject must be lying or sitting in a comfortable position, relaxed, and at a time when things aren’t going to be interrupted.
    2. Light a candle and place it somewhere where I can be easily seen. Make sure the candle is in a place that is a little bit high so the subject has to look up in order to see it.
    3. Tell them the following, or something close to it, in a peaceful, monotonous tone (not a commanding tone of voice):

    ”Take a deep breathe through your nose and old it in for the count of 8. Now, through your mouth, exhale completely and slowly. Continue breathing long, deep, breaths through your nose and exhaling through your mouth. Tense up all your muscles very tight, now, counting from ten to one, release them slowly, you will find them very relaxed. Now, look at the candle, as you look at it, with every breath and passing movement, you are feeling increasingly more and more peaceful and relaxed. The candles flame is peaceful and bright. As you look at it I will count down from 100 own, as I count, your eyes will become more and more relaxed, getting more and more tired with each passing moment."

    Now, count down from 100, about every 10 numbers say "When reach xx your eyes (or you will find your eyes) are becoming more and more tired." Tell them they may close their eyes whenever they feel like it. If the persons eyes are still open when you get to 50 then instead of saying "your eyes will.." say "your eyes are...” When their eyes are shut say the following:

    ".... as you lie (or sit) here with your eyes comfortably closes you find your self relaxing more andmore with each moment and breath. The relaxation feels pleasant and blissful so, you happily give way to these wonderful feeling. Imagine yourself on a cloud, resting peacefully, with a slight breeze caressing your body. A tingling sensation begins to work its way, within and without your toes; it slowly moves up your feet, making them warm, heavy ad relaxed. The cloud is soft and supports your body with its soft texture, the scene is peaceful and absorbing, the peacefulness absorbs you completely. The tingling sensation gently and slowly moves up your leg, relaxing them. Making them warm and heavy. The relaxation feels very good, it feels so good so just relax and let go. As the tingling continues its journey up into your solar plexus (or body)(, you feel your inner stomach become very relaxed. Now, it moves slowly to your chest, making your breathing relaxed as well. The feeling begins to move up your arms to or shoulders, making your arms heavy and relaxed as well. You are aware of the total relaxation you are now experiencing, and you give way to it. It is good and peaceful, the tingling now moves into you face and head, relaxing your jaws, neck, and facial muscles, making your cares and worries flat away Away into the blue sky as you rest blissfully on the cloud...."

    If they are not responsive or you think they (he or she.) is going to sleep, then add in a: "...always concentrating upon my vice, ignoring all other sounds. Even though other sounds exist, they aid you in your relaxation." They should soon let out a sigh as if hey were letting go, and their face should have ”woodenness" to it, becoming featureless. Now, say the following:

    "... You now find yourself in a hallway; the hallway is peaceful and nice. As I count from 10 to 1 you will imagine yourself walking further and further down the hall. When I reach one you will find yourself where you want to be, in another higher state of concious and mind. (Count from ten to one)...."

    Do this about three or four times. Then, to test if the subject is under hypnosis or not, say:

    "...You feel a strange sensation in your arm the feeling begins at your fingers and slowly moves up your arm, as it moves through your arm your arm becomes lighter and lighter, it will soon be so light it will rise... becoming lighter and lighter which each breath and moment... Their fingers should begin to twitch and then move up, the arm following. Congratulations you have him/her in hypnosis. The first time you do this, while he/she is under hypnosis say good things, like: "your going to feel great tomorrow" or every day in every way you will find yourself becoming better and better" or something like that. The more they go under, the deeper in hypnosis they will get each time you do it.

    4. Getting them to do what you want during the time they are hypnotized: Let's say for example the you want them to take their clothes off. You must say something like: "you find yourself at home, in your room an you have to take a shower (vividly describe their room and what’s happening), you begin to take off your clothes..." Now,it's not THAT simple, you must know the persons house, room, and shower room. Then describe things vividly and tell them to at it out (they have to be DEEPLY under to do this.). I would just suggest that you experiment a while, and get to know how to do things. Off course you should always try something a bit simpler and easier then getting the subject to undress. This is just an example of something you shouldn’t do because it might be illegal. Try other, simpler things. :-)

    5. Waking them up:

    Waking up is very easy, just say: "as I count you find yourself becoming more an more awake, more anymore lively. When you wake up you will find yourself completely alive, awake, and refreshed. Mentally and physically, remembering the pleasant sensation that hypnosis brings. Waking up feeling like a newborn baby, reborn with life and vigor, feeling excellent. Remembering that next time you enter hypnosis it will become an ever increasing deeper and deeper state than before. 1) You feel energy course throughout your limbs. 2) You begin to breathe deeply, stirring. 3) Beginning to move more and more your eyes open, bringing you up to feel conscious. 4) You are up, up, up and awakening more and more. 5) You are awake and feeling great. And that’s it. You now know how to hypnotize someone else. You will learn more and more as you experiment

    The question is always there whether they ask or it not. When someone learns you are a hypnotist, either stage or clinical, there is the suspicion that you possess some sort of ability to compel others to do your bidding-for good or evil.

    “Can you make people do things, can you hypnotize women? Imagine that!”

    The innuendo is that through hypnosis you can influence the behavior of others in a direction that would normally be resisted. Kind of appealing to a would-be seducer. And kind of frightening to an unwilling would-be conquest!

    So what gives, can hypnosis turn a frog into a prince so to speak? Consider the definition of hypnosis that states that it is “a naturally altered state of mind where a person becomes more willing to change his or her perceptions about self, other people and the world around us.” Change perception and behavior changes with it.

    So hypnosis is a tool that increases what is described as suggestibility. However, it also true that persuasion takes place all the time with or without a formal hypnosis process.

    Now in order for hypnosis/persuasion to take place there must be a strong bond of rapport between the two parties. Without rapport, suggestibility dwindles down to virtually nil. And the way that rapport is developed and strengthened is the essential paradox of the persuasion equation.

    The truly persuasive person realizes that he must focus on the hopes, dreams and fears of the other person, not his own. This is what builds rapport. It is no accident that truly hypnotic people have the ability to make you feel as if you were the only person in the room. Is there anyone less spellbinding than the person whose favorite topic is himself?

    So can you hypnotize women? Can you hypnotize men? The answer is yes, there are verbal and non-verbal hypnotic techniques you can learn that will increase your powers of persuasion. However they do depend on the ability get of your own way and focus on the other person instead. Imagine that!

    After reading this aritcle title, you might think—Wow! Advertising that Hypnotizes smokers to quit smoking. Unfortunately, advertising for smoke cessation products—albeit ostensibly to help people quit smoking—are intentionally giving the opposite subliminal message.

    As a hypnotherapist, I have helped hundreds of people stop smoking and remain non-smokers. However, I have noticed the challenge is growing more difficult and I wondered why. Usually, when advertising comes on when watching a TV program I press the mute button. But my curiosity was peaked and I wondered what the latest smoke cessation advertisements were saying, because many clients said the patches, gum, etc. wasn’t helpful. Maybe they were using the wrong brand for their needs, I thought. I started watching smoke cessation product commercials. After watching several, I realized that the commercial is giving a powerful subliminal message. Smokers are told over and over that it is difficult to quit smoking. Not just difficult, but nearly impossible.

    One product has a three step program. A three step program alone implies it is difficult to stop smoking. In addition the advertising points out a list of withdrawal symptoms, including nicotine cravings and side effects from quitting smoking are listed in graphic, horrific detail. One gets the impression one is going into a long difficult battle from which one might not emerge. Thus, the product advertising sets up a ‘prophesy’—it will be long difficult, if not impossible.

    The advertising includes such statements as: “Smoking is the hardest addiction to end—cigarettes are as addictive as cocaine or heroine. Our product is the best.” The side effects and withdrawal symptoms of quitting are horrendous—“so you need our product. “It’s impossible for some people to stop smoking—“and if you don’t have our product, you will never be successful.”

    If you search the Internet you will find statements such as:

    • Product A: “naturally eliminates the insomnia, tension, irritability, weight gain, nervousness, fatigue and other uncomfortable, even painful cravings and side-effects of nicotine addiction.”

    • Product B: “has been proven to improve your mood and your ability to carry out your daily routine; decreases symptoms—sadness, hopeless, worthlessness, exhaustion and poor sleep; increase circulation to your brain and other parts of your body; and may exert protective action on your nerve cells.”

    After hearing or reading these advertisements/commercials you know that you can expect: “Insomnia…tension…irritability…weight gain…nervousness…fatigue—as just a few of the uncomfortable and even painful symptoms quitters experience.”

    Only one or two of these suggestions is enough to induce most people to cry ‘uncle’ and grab their ‘emergency’ pack of cigarettes. Many people are afraid to quit because they might gain weight or that it is a difficult challenge and they don’t want to be a failure—so they don’t decide to quit. Do you think you would be interested in a method that is guaranteed to work? There is one.

    There are increasing news reports, often simply news releases from the company advertising a product also give subliminal messages—giving the harmful effects of smoking and how nearly impossible it is to quit.

    With the messages about the challenges of quitting imprinted in one’s mind how easy is it for a smoker to make the decision to quit? How many products would one have to buy, apply or ingest before one felt one would be safe from those advertised side-effects? Do not allow yourself to be hypnotized by the media and the companies that want you to buy, buy, buy their product.

    One other subliminal message that everyone—smoker or non-smoker believes is—“I smoke. I am a smoker.” One is truly only a smoker when one has a lit cigarette in their mouth and draws in the smoke. All other time—one is a non-smoker. When I tell this to my clients, they recognize the empowerment that statement gives them. I ask them—When did you smoke your last cigarette? More often then not the answer is: On the way here (my office). Even if it is only ten minutes they are a non-smoker for ten minutes and I include that statement in the post-hypnotic suggestion.

    If you want to quit, stop listening to the commercials/advertisements for products. Begin with positive self-talk. “I am a non-smoker for (fill in the time since you smoked a cigarette). “I will continue as a non-smoker effortlessly and easily one minute at a time.” “I will remain relaxed and focused while being a non-smoker.” “I will effortlessly and easily resist all temptation to reward my thoughts for nicotine and the smoking habit.”

    The choice is yours—you will quit effortlessly and easily when you decide your health is more important than a smoking habit. You can quit ‘cold turkey,’ with hypnosis, a patch, gum or other aids. Just do it. You deserve to live a healthier life.

    Just suppose for a moment that you can walk into any social situation, start a conversation and within minutes get everyone riveted to your every word and literally hypnotized to do what you want. Now, how much better sense of control over your life would you have in such situation?

    But... do such methods even exist?

    Let's take a look... Have you ever talked to someone or read a book and felt completely riveted to the conversation or the text? You know, when you just stop... and as you become completely absorbed, you can notice your breathing... The rise and fall of your chest, perhaps even going in the rhythm of the conversation or the pace of your reading...

    The outside world slowly fades away and you're suddenly completely focused on every word. You begin to vividly experience the words as they are said or read...

    For example, if your were to read about walking down the beach, looking at the ocean as the waves make gentle sounds as they come in contact with the land, you could even smell the scent of the pine trees, mixed with fresh air that the wonderful soft breeze brings from the sea and begin to notice how you become ever so relaxed and feel that wonderful good feeling coming over you, so much so, that when you feel that electrifying sense go down your spine, you discover that your physiology has changed and you're now in a different posture than before when you started reading this article!

    Amazing, huh?

    Think about it for a second... if you read the above paragraph and you imagined the sensations and felt relaxed and maybe even a gentle surge go down your spine, then you've just been successfully hypnotized without ever realizing it!

    Covert hypnosis, as we like to call it, is a powerful tool if you know how to use it.

    And it doesn't stop at getting a person smell pine trees and feel good. You can get a person in an uncontrolled urge to want to get their hands on your products and services. You can literally get the members of the opposite sex drooling over you and so much more.

    So... how is it done?

    Its much easier than you might think, but only when you have the right tools or know the right sequences of "pressing the hot buttons in people"!

    Let's very quickly take a look at a general idea you can use right now to covertly hypnotize people...

    First, it's important to get their attention. As you might know, an important part of hypnosis is focused attention. You can accomplish that with getting them curious, for example. If you know what might interest them, tease them a bit and tell them you'll reveal the secret at the end, but first, in order to understand it, you must tell them a quick story...

    OK, now you've got attention. Now you have to "temporarily suspend" their critical mind. This step is also important because that way you'll be able to guide their imagination and feelings, not to mention thoughts, decisions etc. If you're talking to a stranger, you'll probably first have to establish some rapport with him or her. Rapport deserves another article, so here we'll focus on talking to people you're already in rapport with (friends, family etc.).

    Now, how do we "temporarily suspend" the critical mind, i.e. the part of the mind that analyzes the incoming information and decides whether it is true or not, whether the subconscious mind should take it in or not?

    Read the first paragraph of this article again!

    Did you catch where I did this? Yes, with the words "Just suppose for a moment...". This instantly brought your critical mind to rest and fired up your imagination! If I just said: "You can walk into any social situation, start a conversation and within minutes get everyone riveted to your every word and literally hypnotized to do what you want". Would you have really imagined it and felt what it would be like -- which was the purpose of that first paragraph?

    No, you're right, you wouldn't. So I made sure you did -- by suspending your critical mind for a moment.

    Do you now see how this works :)

    There are tons of other very powerful techniques in the covert hypnotist's arsenal. We've just scratched the surface here. But what you learned here is very powerful non the less, so use it with good judgement and only to make people feel good. There's no sense in making people even more miserable than they already are. Be better!

    Is the enormous influence Dick Cheney wields over the president of the United States evidence of Cheney having put Bush into a hypnotic trance?

    No. That bewildered look of George W. and his fractured syntax has nothing to do with hypnotism. That’s because hypnosis can’t make you do something you don’t want to. So Bush’s war-mongering, acceptance of torture and spying on his own citizens may have been suggested by Cheney but is clearly something Bush believes to be inspired by God, not Cheney.

    However, the Bush administration has used hypnosis on Americans in general. And it has done that in a horribly negative fashion. Negative hypnosis is when someone plants negative thoughts in other people’s minds.

    As detailed by the American former hypnotherapist Carol Warner Christen in her paper ‘Fear, Distraction, Hypnosis, And The National Attention Span’:

    “We are hypnotized by the idea of fear. The American power mongers ask us to close our eyes and imagine a jihadist, a foreigner, a terrorist. Our homegrown tyrants will care for us if we let them; we will be safe and secure as we sink deeper and deeper into the abyss of uncaring bliss...we will give the tyrants here more and more including trillions of dollars of our hard-earned taxes.” [Swans.com library]

    Why have U.S. citizens been willing to absorb this fear? Partly because, like people everywhere, Americans begin with suspicion of the Other. However, the history of the United States is rife with insularity and xenophobia.

    Which, of course, has been exacerbated by 9/11. Bush’s reaction to this dastardly act was to declare a Crusade. Never seemed to occur to him to wonder why America is so hated. (Not, I hasten to add, that any reason for the hatred justifies the slaughter of 9/11.)

    Ever since then Bush has carefully deflected attention away from his bosom pals, the Saudi Arabians, (whose country provided most of the 9/11 terrorists) with a steady diet of fear-based suggestions delivered hypnotically through the media.

    According to Canadian hypno-psychotherapist Bryan Knight the solution to these fear-inducing suggestions is a counter campaign of positive hypnotic suggestions. And this could be accomplished on a group or individual basis without State intervention.

    Adults can quickly learn how to use hypnosis to tune into their own psychological strengths. Many books and websites show how easy this is. According to Knight, who delights in his five grandchildren, developing the skill of positive self-hypnosis is even more important for children.

    “Every child in North America could benefit from being taught positive self-hypnosis,” says Knight. “More relaxed at school they would be able to listen better in class, absorb information more accurately, think more clearly, do better in sports and on exams. Their self-esteem and self-control would sky-rocket.”

    Most importantly, adds Knight, “Children enjoying positive self-hypnosis would naturally resist the kind of negative fear-mongering that currently infests our neighbours to the South."

    You can mirror and match more than just gestures try postures and speech patterns.

    A more advanced technique is leading. While matching and mirroring is very powerful leading is awesomely powerful. After matching her posture, gestures and speech patterns for a few minutes, you can try leading.

    Change your posture or use a gesture and if you have built enough rapport she will follow because your on the same wavelength. If she doesn’t follow go back to mirroring for a few minutes and try again.

    This is a very powerful technique because by getting her to change her posture and physiology you can change the emotions she is experiencing. When you are a skill practitioner you will be able to get woman to relax and open up very easily.

    Hypnosis can however have some pretty crazy outcomes. It can help someone to get rid of a bad habit that they wouldn’t normally have the power to do, like quitting smoking. It can help to change associations of people so that their lives become more focused and they are more motivated to achieve their goals, and it can help to relieve many mental imbalances, like those in patients with depression or anorexia. Hypnosis is a state of conscience where the hypnotist opens the subjects mind for suggestions. The subject is deeply relaxed is very willing to listen to anything you say, and be in total agreement. Often times, the patient does not even know they are in a trance, because they can still hear, and sense everything around them. It is easier for the hypnotist to put a very willing and non judgmental subject under hypnosis, rather than someone who is a total skeptic and feels like they are wasting their time.

    The process of hypnosis is actually not that hard. It begins with making the subject become relaxed. Every muscle in their body must be at ease and their thoughts should be steady and slow, which usually takes anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes. After this ‘setup’ stage is complete, the suggestions can begin. In this stage the hypnotist can suggest things to the patient that they will hear and will be programmed into their subconscious mind, like ‘You hate smoking’. Suggestions like this will go on for about 10 to 15 minutes and then the subject should be brought back out of the trance with a backwards count from five, when the count reaches one, they should be fully awake and alert. It might take a couple of session to alter a deeply engrained behaviour, in some cases even ten or more, but it is always possible to change.

    Picture yourself five years from now... you walk through the world without a worry on your mind. You get things done by people. You can easily make new friends and almost instantly help people change their minds, make decisions and experience emotions they never dreamed were possible.

    You're energetic, charismatic and really persuasive. As you imagine all this, you can truly realize how great this feels and you can look back at this very moment as being the start of it all.     Hypnotic trance is an everyday phenomenon. You go through it many times a day, whether as a result of your own actions or of interacting with other people. You also create it in other people, but until today, you've probably never thought of using such moments for your advantage...

    In this article I'll show you a basic way to induce a trance in a person and how to quickly slide a suggestion into his or her mind without him or her ever realizing anything strange is happening.

    Before we go on, let's quickly look at what is hypnosis.

    Hypnosis is defined as "the bypass of the critical factor and establishment of acceptable selective thinking". The critical factor is the part of the conscious mind that critically evaluates the incoming information. So, when someone says: "You're and elephant", your critical factor evaluates this statement and rejects it as false. That way your subconscious mind is protected from suggestions that violate your belief system. But not entirely...

    Establishment of acceptable selective thinking simply means that you focus on only one stream of thoughts and you accept them. So, you could focus on buying a new car and how good it feels to have it, but forget that you have to pay a lot of money for it and to evaluate if it really is worth it. This is something car salesmen, for example, are trained to do to their clients every day!

    Now... how do we do that to people in a course of a simple conversation and without them knowing?

    This is where the fun begins!

    The first thing you'll need is to get in rapport with that person. Rapport is simply put that feeling of connection and trust between two people. It doesn't have to be very deep. You're already in rapport with your friends, but with new people, you can just compliment their shirt, shoes, maybe laugh at their joke etc. and you're done. You'll know when they like you and when they're still reluctant to trust you.

    OK, when you've established rapport, you can now bypass their critical mind and establish acceptable selective thinking. I'll give you just one simple example of that...

    A good way to bypass the critical mind is to say "What if...". When you say that, the critical mind immediately shuts off and lets imagination run wild. This is another important point... We will only do things that we've imagined doing before and feeling good about it! So, after the words "What if...", you can continue with describing what you want this person to do and present it in a benefit oriented way for them. That's it. In most cases, if you do this correctly, you'll get compliance. The degree of the things they'll do for you depends on the depth of rapport and how well you present it to them as beneficial.
